What’s your background and how did you get into video template creation? 

I have a diverse academic background, having studied traffic engineering and computer science. However I’ve always had a passion for creative design, particularly in the form of motion design. This lingered in the back of my mind until I eventually decided to pursue this interest.

I’ve spent countless hours learning the craft through tutorials and experimentation.

What do you love about working in video?

As a motion designer, I absolutely love working in video production. There’s something incredibly rewarding about the creative process: the way that an idea can start as a simple concept and evolve into a stunning, fully-realized project that captures the imagination of an audience.

As an Envato author, I feel fortunate to be able to share my skills and expertise with a community of creatives who share my passion for video production. Seeing my work help others bring their creative visions to life is incredibly rewarding.

What inspires your work?

There are many sources of inspiration for my work, from animation studios to talented individuals in the industry. However, what truly ignites my passion is watching TV series, documentaries, movies, and motion reels on YouTube and Vimeo. I’m also inspired by the incredible work of Envato authors, who consistently produce high-quality and innovative content.

Additionally, I find that spending quality time with my family can also provide a fresh perspective. This perspective helps me generate new ideas to incorporate into my motion design work. I always keep a notebook or phone handy to jot down any inspiration that strikes me. This allows me to infuse my work with creativity and energy.

How do you create high-quality video templates?

To create high-quality video templates, I always start with a clear concept or idea. I make sure to sketch out my ideas in a notebook, creating mind maps to help me visualize the potential direction of the project.

Next, I create a mood board on platforms such as Pinterest, gathering inspiration from a variety of sources to form the design of the template. From there, I gradually develop the template, refining, and iterating until I am satisfied with the final result.

Where’s the most exciting place you’ve seen your items used? 

Seeing my video templates used in various TV advertisements and online commercials has been thrilling, but the most exciting moment was when one of the top YouTubers in the creative world used my logo reveal template on their channel.

This individual has inspired countless creatives like me with their knowledge and expertise, so it was truly an honor to see my work showcased alongside theirs. It’s moments like these that make all the hard work and dedication worth it.

How has Envato helped your journey as a creator?

Envato has been a game-changer in my journey as a creator. Their platform has given me the opportunity to showcase my work to a global audience, connecting me with customers from all over the world. The support and resources provided by Envato have also helped me refine my skills and stay on the cutting edge of the ever-evolving world of video production.

What makes you most excited as a creator online?

As a creator online, what excites me most is the ability to work from anywhere, at any time. All I need is a good idea, a pen and paper, and a computer with internet access. With these three things, I can bring my creative ideas to life.

The freedom to work on my own terms and connect with collaborators from around the world is truly exhilarating. Plus, I get to share my work with a global audience.

Are there any video trends that you are loving at the moment?

I’m always excited to explore new trends and styles in video production.

Currently, I’m loving the resurgence of retro aesthetics and the use of restricted color palettes. There’s something about the vintage-inspired designs and bold color choices that add a sense of nostalgia and vibrancy to any project. Whether it’s a funky animated intro or a stylized commercial, these trends offer a fresh take on classic design and storytelling.

What main programs, tools, or techniques do you use to create your work?

I rely on a mix of traditional and digital tools to bring my ideas to life. I start by sketching out my concepts using pen and paper. This helps me map out the structure and design of the project. From there, I turn to Pinterest for inspiration and to gather a mood board of visual elements.

Once I have a clear sense of the direction I want to take, I turn to Adobe After Effects and Illustrator to execute the project. These tools are so powerful, and allow me to using create animations and graphics that bring my ideas to life.

What are your top tips for video creators just starting out?

For video creators just starting out, my top tip is simple: practice, practice, practice. The more you work on your craft, the better you will become.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new techniques, even if they don’t always work out. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. With enough dedication and perseverance, you’ll soon find yourself creating work that you’re truly proud of.

How do you come up with new and exciting template ideas?

As a video template creator, I’m always on the lookout for new and innovative ideas that can help me stand out in a crowded market. Sometimes inspiration strikes unexpectedly. It could be a beautiful sunset, a great song, or even a funny conversation with a friend. Anything can spark a new idea.

Other times, it’s a matter of combining elements from different sources. These could be movies, TV shows, or even music videos, to create a unique and exciting template that captures the essence of my creative vision.

Through it all, I stay open and curious. I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to bring my ideas to life.
