Nick Nitrozme

Nitrozme’s background

Hello! I’m Nick, although on Envato I’m mostly known as Nitrozme.

I’m an Envato Power Elite Author who started creating for Envato way back in 2015 (which was 9 years ago, wow!). These days I am in the top 8 video template Authors of all time on Envato. It’s been quite a journey!

How did you get into creating for Envato?

My journey began with Envato Market and VideoHive, but when Elements started including video templates, which happened around 2018–2019, I started creating some cool stuff just for Elements. I take smaller parts of my bigger packs on VideoHive and create more specific, niche items for the Elements platform.

What do you love about being an Envato Author?

I like creativity in all aspects. I like to follow creative trends, and of course to create myself. Each project I begin I try to find the fun in it.

I also love it when I see my templates out in the wild! Since I joined Elements I’ve started to see my items around a lot more, on YouTube, in movies, social media, everywhere!

It makes me so proud to see my work all around the world. And all of that is thanks to Envato. Envato has provided a great opportunity for my work to reach people all over the world, and I plan to keep working with Envato for a long time to come!

Creative inspiration

How do you get inspiration?

Ever since I started I have found the most inspiration from within my own life. Inspiration is everywhere. I just try to keep my eyes open to it.

For example, one time I was walking around Tbilisi and saw a broken billboard. There was a lot of visual noise on the screen, and that gave me the idea for an item. From that, I created Retroscan Overlays Vol. 04 (below).

But if we talk about people who have inspired me over the years, that’s different.

When I first started creating for Envato there was an Author who inspired me and my work so much—maybe even too much! That Author was 3uma, now known as MotionMediaGroup. He just keeps creating such insane, stylish items!

Unrelated to Envato, another person who inspires me is the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (you’ve probably heard of him!). For me, he reminds me that with hard work you can reach anything! Just the fact that I’m here where I am is a testament to all the hard work I’ve put into my templates.

How do you generate ideas for what you create next?

There are a lot of ways I get inspiration and ideas! The first one is the easiest, and is actually pretty simple: I use the Trends & Insights tab on the Elements Author Dashboard.

I usually try to create something new for me, and non-obvious for the community. For example I just took a photo of my wall and created these cool noise textures from it (below). You would never know that it is just a wall photo inside it!

What creative trends are you loving at the moment?

I am a big fan of overlays. They can stylize your video incredibly fast and you can get a huge variety of results. This retro style is great, and I’m also loving classic punch hole overlays as well.

In general, overlays are easy to use, fun, and cool. And as I can see from my stats, I am not the only one who loves them!. My most popular items for the past year are different types of overlays and transitions with overlays.

How has Envato helped you to achieve creative success?

As other Authors have said before: Envato gave me freedom. I can create whatever I want, whenever I want.

Can you share any examples of where your items have been used by customers?

The most iconic place I’ve seen my items that meant the most for me was this post on Instagram from Adidas. The post introduced some of their new jerseys back in 2018. That video uses my noises and glitches from a Premiere Pro Transitions Pack.
